This briefing examines how the development of more culturally-responsive resettlement practice can improve resettlement outcomes for young people leaving custody. Building upon the Young Review – which explored how to improve outcomes for young Black and Muslim men in the criminal justice system– we take a slightly broader focus to include Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) young people and the role of faith in resettlement. This briefing complements the Beyond Youth Custody briefing on ‘Recognising Diversity in Resettlement’, which examines how responding to diversity can maximise effective practice.
